USD Research CollaborationsThe University of South Dakota main campus located in Vermillion, SD, is a vibrant setting for innovation, artistry and discovery, with research and creative opportunities in all disciplines.

USD actively seeks and supports industry collaborations and the university hosts multi-disciplinary competitive research centers that foster academic excellence and spur economic growth.

Signature research programs at USD include: the South Dakota Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (BRIN); Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury Research; and the South Dakota Catalysis Group (SDCG) for Alternative Energy.

USD offers a PhD in nine programs: Basic Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Counseling & Psychology in Education, English, Materials Chemistry, Physics, Political Science and Psychology. In addition, undergraduate students have many varied opportunities to engage in mentored research and creative activities, advanced by the Council for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity.
